Welcome to the 18th Annual Paint Historic Waxahachie!
ABOUT THE EVENT: This event will take place in Waxahachie, Texas
located 30 miles south of Dallas, Texas. It is known as the
Gingerbread City and Crepe Myrtle Capital of Texas. It’s full of
historical buildings, parks, shopping venues, walking trails,
new housing editions, multiple eating establishments, a
beautifully preserved downtown area and one of the most
beautiful courthouses in Texas.
The early painting opportunity includes all of Ellis County.
VENUE: The host of our art show is Ellis County Women’s Art Club
and will be held at The Ellis County Women’s Building, a 1925

Waxahachie structure exuding history and charm where many
special events are held.
AWARDS: Best in Show $3,000, 1st Place $2,000, 2nd Place $1500,
3rd Place $1,000, Honorable Mentions FOUR $250 each, plus
Merchandise and products from art supply sponsors.
PUBLICITY & PROMOTIONS:
The Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce, Conventions & Visitors
Bureau, and Downtown Merchants Association all support this
Paint Out and will be promoting this event through local print &
social media.

INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
JURY FEE:
To be considered for participation in this event. Artists must
submit 3 images representative of their best plein air work and
pay a non-refundable $75 jury fee. Applications are processed
through onlinejuriedshows.com.
Deadline to enter: MIDNIGHT OCT 1,2025.

THE JURY PANEL
A panel of three will ‘blind jury’ the applications. Acceptance
in the 2025 PHW Plein Air Show is based on the overall quality
of work submitted.
Event participation will not exceed 60 artists with an alternate
list of 15 in the event of artist cancellation.
Submission of application and entry fee constitute
agreement with all conditions set forth in this prospectus.

4. Artist’s Event Packet available at check in. Packets will
include name badge, rules & prospectus, invitation to award
ceremony, maps, places to paint in Waxahachie and more.
5. Canvases must be stamped by ECAA EVENT STAFF prior to
painting at Check In TO BE CONSIDERED IN JUDGING FOR AWARDS.
6. ALL PAINTINGS MUST BE TURNED IN NOV 14 BETWEEN 12PM-3PM
7. TURN IN DEADLINE FOR JUDGING 3:00 P.M.- Nov 14, 2025
8. A maximum of 5 paintings, pre-stamped in advance BY EVENT
STAFF, MAY BE SUBMITTED FOR JUDGING AND FOR SALE. Blank
canvas, panel & paper will be accepted for awards which can
be primed in advance in any color if you choose to do this.
9. All submitted artworks must be FOR SALE and presented in
GALLERY QUALITY frames & ready to hang with screw eyes &
wire (no sawtooth hangers).
10. We ask that artists do not remove unsold paintings until the
end of the show on November 16 4:00 PM.
11. Upon submission of artwork, each artist will be provided
one full panel (size 7’tall x 38” wide) on which to hang up
to five pieces of their artwork. All submitted framed or
Gallery wrap paintings must fit on their designated panel

without any hangover on edges of panel. Paintings may be no
smaller than 8” on any one side (excluding frame).
NO EXCEPTIONS.
12. Unframed paintings must be gallery wrap/ museum wrap with
edges painted.
13. Gallery wrap/museum wrap canvases must be a minimum of 1½”
thick. No staples on sides. Edges must be completely painted
and dry before submitting work.
14. Space permitting, additional paintings will be accepted for
the exhibition and sale after judging takes place.
15. Artists must paint within the Waxahachie city limits
during the Paint Out week (NOV 7-13, 2025). During this
week, we encourage artists to paint in the historic downtown
area.

INSURANCE:
The artist is responsible for insurance of their artwork. The
Ellis County Art Association assumes no responsibility for
theft, damage, or liability.
